Hi! My name is Hazel and I am nothing but 60lbs of love. I LOVE to be with humans. I just want you to pet me, cuddle me and pet me some more. I am really good at nudging you with my head if you stop. I will make sure I always have you in sight too. I will follow you up the stairs behind you to help with laundry or sit by the oven as you cook. My favorite place in the whole wide world is the couch! After I go potty, you can find me running straight for the couch. I am a pretty good jumper for my size and can get right on up there. I'd stay there all day if I could. Sleeping, eating, and cuddling are my favorite hobbies. I am pretty lazy, but that’s how Bulldogs are supposed to be, right? Even though I prefer the couch, I do love dog beds and I've newly discovered bones and toys!
My foster parents say I must tell you a little about my past. Not much is known, they have learned I wasn't very socialized, and I didn’t have many consequences. I can often be stubborn with new routines, situations, and things. Foster mom and dad are providing firm leadership and consequences and I am learning what this pet life is all about and I really like it! I have been working really hard on potty training and I am learning fast! I wear a diaper when my foster parents aren't home, but with a routine I'll have it down in no time! I am kennel trained. I don't mind my foster sibling who is submissive and lazy like myself. I ignore her but don't really interact, so it’s ok if she’s laying next to me or whatever. Now, my other foster sibling who is active and more dominant, let’s just say I don't like her energy. I don't like sharing my human’s love. With time and firm leadership, I could learn to share with a submissive dog. Now please don't let that veer you away from me because my foster parents will tell you I am the most loving dog. I just am so happy to be loved and taken care of that I just want to sit right next to you. You won't ever be shorted kisses from me.
I am pretty healthy! No known health problems. I did come to my foster parents with several sores on my legs and feet. We are working hard to get those healed up. I am easy going when it comes to humans. I will let you look at my paws, teeth, etc. I do great with applying cream, taking baths, and taking medicine if needed. I am a big girl and rumor has it, I should lose a little weight. Now personally I think you should just give me even more treats, but my foster parents say I have to limit them. Another new activity for me is walks! Just the other night I completed my first walk with my foster parents and my foster dog siblings! I was exhausted but I did it!!!! We all celebrated!
If you are wanting a lazy English Bulldog who will do nothing but be loyal to you and provide you with all the cuddles and kisses, that's me!!! I'd be a great companion to take naps with.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
