Mack is a former commercial breeding dog who happy, go lucky, playful, and curious guy. While slow to warm up to people, his personality shines once he is comfortable in his environment. He is extremely shy at first and is still timid around humans so he would need a family that is patient with him as he adjusts. Mack loves his chew toys, running in the grass, playing with his foster brother, and napping in the sun. He is still learning how to walk on a leash, which is why he would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he could run freely! Overall, he is an enormously laid-back dude who gets an occasional moment of zoomies. Once he takes a few laps in the yard and gets his wiggles out he is content with spending the rest of the day with his chew toys in a sunny area. Mack LOVES other dogs, his true personality shines when he has another fur companion to run around with.
Mack is an extremely healthy and happy dog. He has been neutered and the vet stated his teeth are “in perfect condition.” He is also current on all of his shots. During the day, Mack is crated while foster mom is at work, which he does great with! Mack does not mind being crated and has never once had an accident in his crate. When kept on a consistent schedule, he has done great with potty training but will still have the occasional accident in the house. At night, he is content sleeping in bed with foster mom and brother but would also be fine sleeping in his crate.
While Mack’s personality has started to show, he is still affected by his past. New people, loud noises, or sudden moments make him extremely anxious. When this happens, he tends to run away from the environment or if he can’t get away, he “splats” (lays flat and does not move) on the floor. He is still cautious with receiving love and cuddles from humans but has shown significant improvement. Mack would do best in a quieter home with older children who are able to allow him patience to open up and respect his boundaries. He would also do great with other fur siblings with whom he can play with and learn the ropes of pet life from. With time and some love and patience, Mack will thrive and embrace his new pet life!
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
