Beverly joined Lucky Bulldogs after being retired from the commercial breeding industry. She loves pet life and now she’s ready for a home of her own. She loves people and is a Velcro dog. She is most content being in your lap for a cuddle session. She will follow you from room to room and sleeps “with one eye open” so she can make sure her person is nearby.
Bev is working on potty training, but when kept to a schedule, she does really well. When she is outside, whether it’s on a leash or in the yard, Bev likes to play and explore. She does pick up sticks and carries them in the yard and sometimes chews them. She is the cutest when she does her zoomies in the yard. She is still figuring out toys, but she loves treats and her favorite are blueberries and bananas. I do monitor how fast she drinks because if she drinks fast and then runs or is active, she will sometimes spit up water.
Bev is a riot! She slivers around like a snake against walls and furniture and rolls over and pushes with her legs off furniture. She loves to give kisses and likes to chew on your hair if you let her. She makes all kinds of crazy sounding snorts and grunts. She rides well in the car and loves to go to stores and get pets from strangers.
She would be fine being kenneled if you work outside the home, but she does some “woo woos” when she is kenneled alone. She does keep her kennel dry and does not make a mess. She does much better with a dog friend in a nearby kennel, so she does not feel alone.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
