 Meet Brownie

Hi there! My name is Brownie, and I'm a 2-year-old spayed English  Bulldog with a story to tell. Before you ask, yes I am back up for  adoption again, although I must say…it wasn’t my fault. I am still the perfect, goofy, lovable cosmic Brownie I have always  been.

For the first part of my life, I worked as a breeder mom at an Amish  facility. But after a little soul-searching (and what I like to call my Rumspringa era), I've decided that the traditional breeder life  just isn't for me. I've officially chosen the English Bulldog pet  lifestyle: couch naps, belly rubs, snacks, and being told I'm a good  girl for absolutely no reason.

I'm a sweet, energetic girl who loves people, pets, and making dog  friends. I'm still learning what it means to be someone's beloved pet,  so some things are new and a little confusing. Leashes and all the weird  human stuff? I'm figuring it out one day at a  time. I have decided I love toys and couches now.

I am potty trained!

I have been doing great in my kennel – both sleeping and while my furster parents are at work.

Because I missed out on some early life experiences, I'll need a patient  family willing to help me continue building confidence and learning the  ropes. Sometimes I look to my humans or canine friends for reassurance,  but every day I'm getting a little braver  and a little more comfortable with this exciting new life.

My ideal family understands that while I may be new to the pet life, I'm  fully committed to it. Think of me as a recent career changer—I'm  leaving the breeder industry behind and pursuing my true passion:  professional companion.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted.  Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above.  Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications.  All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes.  Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters.  Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.

All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages. 

We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
