All About Chessie

  Hello! Meet Ms. Chessie.

Chessie came to LBR as a very well cared for breeder release. She is a gorgeous blue-pied 6-year-old French Bulldog. She loves her humans and is especially fond of males. She has not been around kids while in foster, so that remains unknown.

Some of her favorite things are looking out the windows, wrestling with foster pugs, chewing on Nylabones, and taking naps. She is housebroken. She walks well on harness and lead. She knows how to play fetch but only when she’s in the mood!

Chessie currently resides in a foster home with a fully fenced yard. She loves to roam outside in nice weather. She is not a fan of the cold! She will go out to potty but runs back inside immediately after the job is done! She much prefers to cuddle inside where it’s warm. If she doesn’t have a fenced yard, Chessie would do fine in a situation where she could be walked multiple times a day to potty as well.  

Chessie is a typical grunting, snorting, cuddling bundle of Frenchie love. She really likes cuddling and belly rubs. She prefers to sleep with her humans but will sleep in her kennel without complaining.

Chessie does stay in her kennel without any issues when her foster family is at work. Chessie was recently started on Royal Canin French Bulldog food which her digestive seems to like very well. 

Chessie would do best as an only dog, but with slow introductions, we feel she could happily reside with submissive similarly sized or smaller dogs. She lives in a multi-dog foster home and does well with the small foster siblings.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted.  Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above.  Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications.  All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes.  Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters.  Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.

All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages. 

We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
