All About XXX

Sydney is a low energy, loyal, handsome boy. Syd thinks he’s a bodyguard and can get protective of his family if strangers get too close to his people. He thinks he’s a lot tougher than he is. He would do best with an experienced dog owner who is able to show him who’s boss and that he doesn’t need to be a guard dog. Typically all he needs to feel comfortable with someone new is a treat and a walk up and down the block. Once once he’s disciplined and redirected, he’ll understand he can be friends with anyone. He spends his days sleeping on the couch and bed, enjoying walks, and surveying his kingdom on the patio. His favorite thing to do is sunbathe on the patio while his foster parents work from home. 
 

He may be older, but he shows no signs of slowing down. He enjoys a nice walk, the Saturday morning farmers market, and running down the hallway to greet you when you come home.   Sydney also loves to sing and speak his mind due to separation anxiety. When left home alone, he’ll howl and make a fuss. He does not cause any destruction or harm, but he may not be suitable for apartment living. With practice and time, Syd may overcome is separation anxiety! He is crate trained and won’t have any accidents in there. He’ll even go in his crate during the day to nap.
 

Sydney isn’t opposed to having fur siblings, but they’ll need to be patient as he learns to love! Sydney is doing a great job getting comfortable with his foster sister and they even cuddle and play. As long as any fur siblings he has are mild mannered and they have a proper slow introduction, he will be bffs with them in no time. We think he may only prefer female dogs at this time, but never say never! 
 

Syd needs to work on resource guarding when it comes to food. He doesn’t mind when a human gets near his food, but he doesn’t appreciate another dog getting in his bubble so being separated for meal times works best. He has sensitive skin and eats a non-kibble diet. He enjoys a blend of chicken or turkey with his favorite dog friendly vegetables. He is extremely food motivated and will do anything for treat. 
 

He hasn’t experienced any interactions with kids with his foster family, but he use to live with kids so he would probably do well after a slow introduction. Sydney would love a relaxed easy going family to help him feel comfortable and safe. If you’re looking for a pup who sleeps 90% of the day, enjoys basking in the sun, and bedtime snuggles, Sydney is the Frenchie for you!

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted.  Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above.  Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications.  All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes.  Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters.  Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.

All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages. 

We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
