Meet Ida, a sweet and docile English Bulldog who is all about relaxation and
companionship. Her left ear hangs just a little bit lower than her right ear, her bottom teeth stick out just a little bit farther than her front teeth and her sweetness level is just a little bit amazing! Ida is the biggest sweetie you will ever meet! Ida’s favorite pastimes include chewing on her beloved bones, taking long, cozy naps, and gently moseying about the house, taking life at her own pace. She’s not one to rush, whether it's her slow, steady strolls or her leisurely lounging sessions. Ida loves nothing more than being close to her human, soaking up all the love and affection she can get. While walks aren’t exactly her idea of fun, she’s perfectly content to stay at home, where her calm, laid-back nature shines.
Ida does well in her kennel but prefers to enter on her own terms. Ida is a quiet sleeper, often snoring peacefully, but don’t be fooled—she’s alert when it comes to treat time, and she’ll show her anticipation with a little drool, though it’s never excessive. She’s a pro in the car and loves meeting new people, always displaying her friendly, social side. Due to her size, a family with kids 10 and up might be best, as she tends to knock over the little ones. While she’s pretty good with other dogs, she’s a bit selective in her canine friendships. Recently house-trained, Ida occasionally has an accident when her human isn’t paying attention, but she’s getting better every day. Ida enjoys relaxing at home, enjoying a treat, and simply soaking up love. With her soulful eyes and gentle demeanor, Ida is the ultimate sweetheart and a loyal companion who brings joy to everyone around her and is always happy just to be by your side.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
