Hi ho, Kermit the Dog here, ready to sing you a song. You see it’s not easy being green…err a spotted Frenchie mix who looks like I was put together with spare parts! Don’t hold it against me; I was born this way! While my lineage remains a mystery, what I do know is I am already a pet, potty trained, kennel trained and know basic commands. I came to the rescue after my previous family couldn’t take me with them. I’m not sure if they were going to Hollywood, Space or trying to take Manhattan! That’s OK though, I got to join Lucky Bulldogs Rescue, and I have been able to show everyone I meet my super friendly, silly, playful, and snuggly self.
I love playing with my foster siblings and I hope to live with other dogs in my new home. If not, that’s ok, I love going on adventures, walks, car rides, and playing fetch. My new family should be active and ready to include me in their daily routine. It’ll be quite a few years before I settle down and fully embrace the potato stage of my Frenchie side. Don’t worry, I still love a good snuggle sesh on the couch while you watch your shows. My new family should not have any kitties or other small animals whatsoever. Those things are so tempting, and I really want to chase them. I also chase squirrels and bunnies and birds, so a fenced yard is an absolute must. I have lived with kids in the past and love them. I think, due to my energy, I should live with ages ten and up.
I may not put on a themed variety show, but I do sing! I sing for a bit, not unlike my favorite Muppet, Animal when I’m not happy being in my kennel. After a few tunes, I settle in and nap the day away. Due to my singing shenanigans, I am not suited for apartment life. You could leave me a stuffed Kong or bone to keep me busy, but there is nothing quite like belting out a few tunes.
I do have a couple cosmetic issues that do not affect my daily life. One is a skin tag the size of a pea on my side. The vet said this could be removed with local anesthetic or during my next dental cleaning, but it's really a big nothing. The other is a small histiocytoma on the tip of my ear. The vet says this is benign and will go away on it's own in a few months. I'd say both of these are way better than a Gonzo nose.
I don’t know why there are so many songs about rainbows, but I do know I am ready to find my furever home. A love of Muppets puns is not necessary, but appreciated!
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
