Lila joined Lucky Bulldogs after being retired from the commercial dog breeding industry. She took to the pet life like a duck to water and hasn't looked back since day one.
When she first arrived at her foster home, she marched over to the toy box, picked out her new favorite toy, the Fuzzy Football, and hopped on the couch like she had lived there her whole life. When foster dad sat down to say hello, she jumped in his lap and kissed him like she'd known him all along. Who does that? Lila, that's who! This pint-sized princess is a confident, active little dog who knows what she likes and how to get it; puppy dog eyes be darned, she gives you the snortie kisses and a wink!
Speaking of the wink, Lila has Glaucoma in her left eye. She will need daily medication twice a day for the rest of her life. The current cost of her medication is approximately $50 a month. Lila doesn't mind getting her eye drops one bit as long as she gets a treat afterward. Her left ear is a little wonky due to untreated ear infections. It is purely cosmetic.
Lila LOVES to play fetch. Her future family should probably buy stock in tennis balls or, at the very least, make sure they don't roll under the couch. Lila would be so mad!! As for her favorite toy of all time, the Fuzzy Football will come with her. Lila loves, loves, loves to use the Fuzzy Football as a pacifier. Weird? Yeah, maybe, but it's also kind of adorable.
Lila has a great personality. She is joyful, sweet, and kind. She gets along with other dogs well and loves every person she meets—young and old! Lila would love to live with an active family who will play ball with her and take her on adventures. Lila has not met a cat with her foster family, so how she reacts to them is unknown, but we feel she would do well with a dog-savvy cat.
Lila is kennel trained, nearly potty trained, and walks well on a leash. Like we said, you'd never know she's never been a pet before. Lila has been spayed, had BOAS surgery to help her breathe better, and is up to date on vaccinations. She's so ready to be adopted and be your girl. Make sure you apply today!
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
