Introducing the amazing, the loveable, the oh-so-sweet Lorna Doone! Being named after a cookie sure was the right fit for the extra sweet girl. She came to rescue from the commercial breeding cycle, but she hasn’t let that stop her from running head first into the pet life!
Lorna loves to be with her people and will follow you everywhere you go. She loves to wander around the house with you curiously watching your every move, lay next to your feet, or ask for belly rubs. She loves everyone she meets and would be a great fit with any type of family. Her legs are short, but they will take her far! Her favorite place to be is in your lap, snoring and dreaming away.
Lorna also gets a long with her fellow doggy companions. A slow introduction is recommended as she gets to know her place in the family, and she would do better with confident, calm dogs who can really show her the ways of the household. She also does well on short-nose appropriate walk and is getting more confident on her leash with each trip around the block. She is a bit of a hefty girl, so keeping up with daily walks will do wonders for establishing and maintaining her girlish figure.
Lorna is kennel trained for overnights, time away from home, and eating her meals. She will often seek our her kennel during the day as a comfy place to chew on a toy or take a quick nap where she can dream of catching that pesky garbage truck. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, and has had her teeth cleaned.
Lorna is ready to find the perfect place to snuggle in and spend her life basking in the sun!
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
