Mamacita or as she’s come to be called, Maggie, joined Lucky Bulldogs after she was released from the commercial dog breeding industry. She has put her past in the past and is embracing the pet life. She is extremely sweet, cuddly, and always wiggling. A word of warning though, her milkshake is better than yours and it will bring all the boys to the yard.
Maggie does well with other dogs and she adores her foster fur brother. She will play hard all day long with them! She gets along with them so well that she has no issues eating near them, sharing toys, or getting treats for being the best good girl. She has not shown any prey drive at her foster home so cats are a maybe, but she’s never met one so we aren’t 100% sure. Because she is still new to the pet life, she explores everything with her mouth but is extremely gentle. She will need help learning what is and isn’t a dog toy until she learns the way of the pet. She hasn’t been around kids much, but she seems interested when the neighbor kids come around. Dog-savvy kids would be best if her future family includes children. Some loud noises and fast movements are very scary to her, but she’s still learning about pet life and that is to be expected. Her future family will need to practice patience and gentle reassurance when she is afraid and with time, she will get used to things like these. She only barks when playing her favorite game (soccer) 😊.
Maggie is kennel-trained, but she currently sleeps in bed with her foster family. Maggie is working on potty training and does well when kept to a schedule. She displays pretty strong “need to go” cues and Foster Ma takes her right out. She’s a smart cookie and with time, consistency, and routine she will be a potty pro!
Maggie has been spayed and is up to date on vaccinations. She did have a benign growth removed from her cheek and our vet said it shouldn’t be a concern.
This sweet and sassy girl is ready to join your family and become a cherished pet. If you think she’s the one for you, apply today!
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
