Let me introduce myself, I am MONK, after the late and great jazz artist Thelonious Monk. Gotta love having been placed with a music loving family and dubbing me with an awesome name. While I don't play piano myself, I do love getting to listen to music anytime my fosters fam' leaves me home while out running their lives. I like to keep myself safe in a kennel while left alone, and up to this point, it has also been my bedtime sleep space as well. However, I can hold down a couch pretty well and maybe even help hold down your bed over night? Whaddaya say? I do enjoy human cuddles and have quite the musical abilities with my snore.
Playing with my little foster brother (a Papillon) has become quite a favored past time. Sometimes I can play a little rough, but that's just what young dogs tend to do. I am more and more curious about that outside space as time goes on. Though it took me a while to get used to that. Grass is so weird! It tickles my feet and I much prefer time with my humans! Walks aren't my favorite as that thing you attach to me, I think it's called a leash, is still pretty scary to me. But I know with time, I can get there. I can sure rock a car ride though, I tend to just doze off. So if you think you'd enjoy a big ol' potato that loves to cuddle and give kisses, snag me up!!! Make sure you check out all my handsome photos and some of my favorite past times.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
