All About Olivia

Meet Olivia, a happy, affectionate, smart-as-a-whip girl who is ready to find the family she can finally call her own!

Olivia joined Lucky Bulldogs after her owner was no longer able to care for her, and because she was already accustomed to life in a home, she settled into her foster family beautifully. She truly seems to have decided that being a cherished house dog is exactly what she was meant to do.

And this girl LOVES her people. Olivia doesn’t know a stranger and greets everyone she meets with kisses, wiggles, and the unmistakable excitement of someone who is absolutely thrilled that you have arrived. She is a wonderful shadow dog who is happiest simply being near her people, whether that means following you around the house, lounging nearby while you work, or curling up beside you for some quality couch time.

She is also incredibly smart and eager to learn. Olivia is food motivated, picks things up quickly, and already knows basic commands including sit and lay down. Her foster family reports that she is remarkably well behaved when given free time in her designated room. She doesn't get into things that don't belong to her, doesn't go looking for trouble, and is perfectly content to nap on her dog bed while her people are busy.

But don't let that calm indoor side fool you. Olivia has an athletic, energetic side and absolutely LOVES getting out for walks. Her foster family takes her on several walks a day, and she is happiest when she has opportunities to stretch her legs, explore, and spend time with her people.

Her absolute favorite activity? FETCH! 🎾

Olivia loves chasing and retrieving her little tennis ball and would happily play over and over again. She has a strong prey drive, so while she adores her toys and can happily play with her people, that same instinct means Olivia cannot live with cats, small animals, or small dogs. This is an important part of finding the right home for her. She needs to be the only pet in the household or in a home with large dogs.   She's pretty unphased by the Rottweiler in her foster home and enjoys adventuring in the yard with him.    

Because of her prey drive and athletic nature, we are looking for a home with older, dog-savvy children who can understand and respect her boundaries and play style.

At the end of the day, though, Olivia is a big softie. After her foster family settles in for the evening, she is perfectly happy to hop onto the couch for some snuggles and watch TV with her people. When it's time for bed, she settles down peacefully on her dog bed and calls it a night.

She is also doing well with her house manners and is learning her foster family's routine. She has free range of her foster room without getting into things, and she has learned to scratch at the door when she needs to go outside. Her foster family is continuing to fine-tune her potty schedule, so she may need a little patience as she gets settled into her forever routine. She has access to a crate and is comfortable going inside, although she prefers being close to her people.

We think Olivia is going to make an incredible companion for the right family. She is affectionate, intelligent, playful, well behaved, and endlessly happy to be with her people. She just needs a home where she can be the one and only four-legged queen.

While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted.  Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above.  Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications.  All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes.  Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters.  Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.

All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages. 

We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
