Name: Pearl
Breed: French Bulldog
Age: 3
Sex: Female
Adoption Fee: $500
Weight: 18
Foster Location: Kansas City
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown. She would likely do well with older children, as she likes to chew on her fingers and could possibly hurt a smaller child.
Other Dogs: Pearl loves other dogs and has done well with large and small dogs in foster care.
House Trained: With a schedule. She does like frequent potty breaks and does a little dance outside right before she goes potty.
Demeanor: Pearl loves fiercely when you are her person. She will follow you from room to room and sleep “with one eye open” to ensure her person is near. She loves to cuddle and bury herself under the blankets. She would benefit from someone who works from home or is not gone much during the day as she works to love her kennel, but it is not her favorite. She will cry and head butt the door and has given herself a little scab on her face. She does much better with a dog friend in the kennel, so she does not feel alone.
Energy Level: Medium. Pearl loves to play with a ball, chew on a Nylabone, and wrestle with blankets. She also loves it when she hears the ice machine and comes running for a cube of crunchy water!
Health Issues: None known at this time.
Behavioral Issues: None known at this time.
Pearl joined the rescue after being released from the commercial dog breeding industry. She has taken to the pet life like a duck to water! Pearl is a goofball. She loves to cuddle and be outside when it isn’t too hot. She has this weird fascination with hands and loves to chew on fingers. She doesn’t bite hard and can be redirected with something else to chew on. She is very food-motivated and loves treats. She rides well in the car and loves to go to stores and get pets from strangers.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
