Sage joined Lucky Bulldogs after being released from the commercial breeding industry. She is about five years old and is bravely adjusting to life outside the kennel. Her journey has been one of adaptation and courage as she transitions from life in a kennel to discovering the comforts of a home environment. She was initially very fearful, but is slowly learning to enjoy life, though people and loud noises still make her anxious. Sage likes occasional walks as long as strangers keep their distance, and walks well on a leash unless someone unfamiliar approaches, then she may try to run away from them.
Potty training is ongoing and shows promise—she will go outside if brought out, and with gentle encouragement, she’s making steady progress. Because she’s still gaining confidence, she doesn’t yet ask to go out, so reminders help prevent accidents indoors.
Sage has a gentle and sweet demeanor, earning her the affectionate nickname "queen of the couch potatoes." Her favorite pastime is lounging on the couch, often preferring to relax away from her human companions, though she is beginning to enjoy being petted. She has a playful, sassy side, rolling around on the couch or bed when she’s happy and occasionally doing zoomies.
She’s new to toys but is showing interest in rope toys and especially loves chew bones. She is fine as an only pet, gets along with neighborhood dogs, and ignores cats, so she would do well in a home with a canine or feline friend, too. Though nervous at first during car rides, she settles and naps after a while.
The best home for Sage would include a fenced yard, allowing her to roam and potty at her own pace. A comfortable couch and bed are essential for her relaxation and happiness.
With her sweet disposition and quiet curiosity, Sage is ready for a loving family to help her blossom and show her a true forever home.
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
