Are you looking for a fun-loving guy who loves belly rubs and play time? Meet Wilson, a curious little guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He has been a pet his whole life and is looking for the perfect place for him and his toys to call home.
Wilson loves to hang out with his people everywhere they go. He loves all people, but rest-assured, once he finds his person, he won't let them out of his sight. Taking a quick shower? He'll guard the shower door to make sure you can clean up in peace. Making dinner? He's ready to clean up any scraps. Literally just getting off the couch to adjust? He'll keep a watchful eye to make sure you get nice and comfy.
Aside from people, Wilson's other favorite things include eating, belly rubs, and TOYS! He is always ready to show love to his favorite stuffies by chewing on them mercilessly until their limbs are hanging on for dear life. While he doesn't guard and is willing to share, he does not like it when other dogs try to take the toy he is actively ripping apart, so he should be monitored during playtime when other dogs are around. When it comes to other dogs, he is pretty indifferent, but he is still learning his manners, so a household with confident dogs is recommended. It is unknown how Wilson does with cats, but he has a very active prey drive when it comes to bunnies and squirrels in the backyard.
When he's not snuggling up on the couch or playing with a toy, Wilson loves to keep an eye on the neighborhood. Whether it's a group of kids walking home from school, another dog out for a walk, or the Amazon guy delivering another toy for him to destroy, Wilson will make sure you know that someone is there.
Because he loves his people so much, Wilson does need some help with separation anxiety. He is kenneled while home and alone and does okay with short periods of time, or with a little bit of calming medication for longer stretches of time. He would thrive in a household with someone who is home most of the time, or who is willing to take him along for the ride when leaving the house. He loves a good car ride and is working hard on his leash skills so he can come along wherever you go!
While in foster care, all our dogs are thoroughly vetted. Any discovered medical issues will be disclosed above. Our Lucky Bulldogs (and their smushie-faced buddies) are cleared by their vet for adoption prior to us accepting applications. All our dogs will be up to date on Rabies & DHPP vaccinations, up to date on Heartworm preventative after a negative Heartworm test, and spayed or neutered prior to being adopted out to their forever homes. Often times, our dogs are given dentals and sometimes nare-widening surgery if needed while under anesthesia. All surgical and medical history we have will be shared with adopters. Further details can be discussed with the foster volunteer during the phone interview for the applications that are chosen to proceed to the phone interview part of the adoption process.
All our dogs are crate trained unless otherwise noted on their "All About" pages.
We typically will accept applications for our available dogs for 1-2 weeks except in cases of overwhelming popularity where we may stop accepting new applicants sooner. Once we have stopped accepting applications, we will review them and proceed with a phone call with our top applications to chat about the dog being applied for, go over the adoption process, and answer any questions the potential adopter has. After phone calls take place, we will decide on our top applicant choice and proceed to contact them to schedule a home visit (in person or via video chat), and check vet and personal references before the adoption is ready to be completed. This process can take up to 6 weeks, but we do notify all applicants of the outcome.
